….a learning community
Our vision at Highlands is to create a learning community where each and every child is at the heart of all that we do and say. We value the individuality of each pupil, acknowledge the worth of all that they bring with them and its impact on the life of the whole school. We understand that nurturing children’s personal, social and emotional development has a positive impact on learning. We strive to do the best we can in everything that we do, and we believe that working in close partnership with parents and families will enable our children to achieve their full potential, both academically and as global citizens.
Our learning environment, which is safe, welcoming and stimulating, promotes our vision of children’s development into independent, lifelong learners with the skills to succeed in the future – persistence, resilience, effort, positivity and self-awareness. An inclusive school, celebrating diversity and promoting respect for one another, we ensure that each child is valued and has a sense of belonging. We are a Rights Respecting School, putting the UN Convention on the rights of the child at the heart of our planning, policies, practice and ethos, to enable children to develop as global citizens. We firmly believe that the UNCRC reflects the beliefs of our school community.
We hope that our website gives you an insight into our learning community. If you would like to know more about our school, please call the school office to make an appointment to visit us.
